Yes. The software is free, with no subscription and no limits. The site is funded by the ads shown in its margins and after a download, only if you accept them.

No. All the processing happens on your computer. Your memories never go through our servers or anyone else's. The two options that use the Internet only download public data (place names, street map); see the privacy policy.

Yes. Memories Map exists in English and in French: choose your version on the download page. You can also switch the language at any time at the top right of the window.

From a few minutes to several hours. Photos are fast; videos with text, joined videos and conversions need more computing. Count a few minutes for a small export, a few hours for an export of several dozen GB, a night for the largest ones. You can stop and resume at any time.

About the total size of your export's ZIP files, plus 50 to 600 MB if you choose the detailed street map, depending on the number of places you visited. Memories Map checks the free space before starting. The original ZIP files are never modified: keep them as a backup.

No. Memories Map handles exports of any size, from a few memories to several hundred GB: files are processed one by one, without loading everything into memory, and the map stays smooth even with more than 100,000 memories.

Yes, for recent software. Click "More info", then "Run anyway". You can check the file's fingerprint on the download page.

The Snapchat app doesn't keep the date or the position in the files it gives you, so your phone sorts them at the download date, with no place. Memories Map writes the original date and the GPS position back into each file, where Photos (iPhone) and Google Photos read them.

To put them on your phone without losing this information, transfer the files created through icloud.com/photos (upload button) or the Apple Devices app for an iPhone, and through photos.google.com for Google Photos. Avoid WhatsApp, Messenger or "Save image": they remove the date and the place.

Check that all the parts of the export are in the folder, including the first one. The Snapchat export also sometimes lists memories without providing their file: Memories Map then tells you how many are missing.

The Snapchat app cuts long videos into pieces of a few seconds. Memories Map puts the videos taken within the same minute back together, in order, to rebuild the original video. You can turn this option off.

They come from the GPS position recorded by Snapchat and from the public GeoNames database. They are usually accurate to the neighborhood, but may sometimes name a nearby neighborhood or town.

Not yet. Memories Map currently works on Windows 10 and 11.

No. Memories Map is independent software, neither affiliated with nor approved by Snap Inc. It only uses the data export that the Snapchat app makes available to you.
